Yes we can!

Oh my God, yes we did! We did it! I am so proud of my country. We have made history. Tonight, people of every color came together to vote for hope, for change, for the ultimate ideal of democracy. Tonight, in this the greatest country in the world, a man that 150 yrs ago would have been a slave, a man that 40 yrs ago would have sat in the back of the bus, a man that grew up with FoodStamps, tonight America has elected a black man, a man with a "funny" name, Barack Obama as our next President.

Yes we fucking can!

Blah.

I am going to give him a chance. Although I really don't have a choice. I had a feeling this was going to happen anyway. . which is another huge rant that I have, but am not going there right now.
Let's just hope he can prove himself.

I am already looking at real estate in Canada.

For the people that made an informed decision and voted, that is wonderful. You have the right to support whomever you feel would do the best job. But for the millions of people that voted only on color, that is bullshit. People that never drug their lazy asses out to vote in any other election, but decided that this time they should because there was a black man running. That is concerning. I love the fact that it has been proven that a minority that came from nothing can run and be elected to the highest office in the US, but what is upsetting is the number of people that voted for that reason and didn't even know what he stands for. I have a list of quite a few black men and women that I would love to see as president of this country. But I don't think Obama is the right man for the job. But the people have spoken and that is what was chosen. I personally do not believe in his policies. I am not for late term abortions as he is. I consider that murder. I don't think our troops should be brought home. And MOST of the troops over there hope he doesn't pull us out. It would be devastating not only for our country but for the innocent people of iraq and afghanistan that are so thankful we are there. Having obama as president is going to deal a devastating blow to our military. Yeah, I am sure he will turn the economy around, but at what costs? Our national security? higher taxes? etc.

No, I don't agree with all of McCain's issues either, but in my opinion he is the lesser of two evils. But again, my country spoke and feels differently. So there is nothing I can do.

I am also hearing that there is a lawsuit out challenging Obama's citizenship. I don't know how true this is, but it should be interesting none the less. I have not had the time to research it yet.

Anyway, I know you are over the moon excited. And I wish I could feel the same way, but my gut tells me this is going to be bad. I love this country more than most American's can ever say they do. And I will stand behind whatever decision the people make. Nonetheless, he will be our new leader and commander in chief, and I will respect that the moment he is sworn in.

But we can agree to disagree on the issues that are important to us. And just wait and see how the next 4 years play out.
